Everyone must register their dogs and cats by January 31.
It's estimated that one-third of all pets will be lost at least once in their lifetime but if they're wearing a valid registration tag, the City of Greater Sudbury will give them a free ride home the first time they're caught roaming.
A pet registration is valid until December 31. If your dog or cat is caught roaming without a registration tag, the fine is $105.
