Year-round Collection of Leaf and Yard Trimmings

Place leaves, garden trimmings, house and garden plants, hedge and tree trimmings, branches, grass clippings, brush and other plant materials at the curb or roadside for convenient collection service year-round!

The City of Greater Sudbury's new co-collection vehicles will pick up regular household waste and compostable leaf and yard trimmings on your regularly scheduled household collection day. A second vehicle will collect Blue Box recyclables.

Please make sure recyclables, compostables and regular household waste are at the curb by 7:00 a.m.

Any number of clear plastic bags or compostable paper bags weighing no more than 25 kg/55 lbs.

Bundles must measure no more than 1.2 m/4 feet, weigh no more than 25 kg/55 lbs and be securely tied.

Service does not include stumps, soil, sod, stones. Green, orange or white plastic bags will not be collected.

Collection service available only to low density residential homes of six units or less.

Collection of Natural Christmas Trees

Residents can place natural Christmas trees at the curb for collection on their regularly scheduled household collection day. 

Residents are asked to remove the tree stand, all decorations and any wrapping used to transport the tree from your home to the curb.

Leaf and Yard Trimmings

Definition of leaf and yard trimmings - leaves, grass clippings, twigs & branches, garden clippings, hedge & brush trimmings, natural Christmas trees and other plant materials.  No sod, root balls, stumps from below ground level, gravel or soil.

Leaf and Yard Trimmings Disposal and Composting

Leaf & yard trimmings source-separated (without garbage) may be delivered to the designated composting areas of each landfill site and no tipping fees will be assessed. This material must also be clearly identifiable (i.e. leaves in transparent bags etc.).
